Activating a web camera in the Teams desktop application
Activating a web camera is possible if you have a built-in web camera on your device or connect via USB.
Activate and deactivate your web camera from the Teams meeting toolbar.

The visible web cameras will change depending on who has been speaking last. By adding a web camera to the spotlight, it is possible to ensure certain web cameras will always be in view, even when that person is not talking.
* Spotlight does not work during the Large Gallery -view (when more than 9 web cameras are in use.
* The Spotlight arrangement will be visible in recordings.
How organisers or presenters can add web cameras to the Spotlight:
1. Open the participant panel in the Teams meeting.
2. Click “...” next to the name of the participant you want to spotlight, or right-click their name, and then click the Spotlight -button.
3. Confirm by clicking the Spotlight -button.
Remove a web camera from the spotlight:
1. Open the participant panel in the Teams meeting.
2. Click “...” next to the name of the participant you want to spotlight, or right-click their name, and then click Exit / Stop Spotlight.
3. Confirm by clicking the Stop spotlighting -button.
Activating a microphone in the Teams desktop application
Activating a microphone is possible if you have a built in microphone on your device or connect a headset via USB.
Activate and deactivate your microphone from the Teams meeting toolbar.

Use a headset as it prevents feedback and background noises.
Microphone and web camera settings in the Teams desktop application
The device settings enable changing your web camera, microphone and speaker, as well as adjust background noise suppression.
1. Open the Device settings in the Teams meeting.

2. There are many settings to be found.
If you are using a microphone headset, select it from the Audio devices options. Using a headset is strongly recommended as it prevents feedback and background noises.
If you use separate devices as a microphone and a speaker, select them from the Speaker and Microphone options.
Noise suppression automatically reduces noises that are not recognised as speech. If you are planning to play music through your microphone, switch this setting to Low or Off.
If you have multiple web cameras connected to your device, you can select the correct one from the Camera options.
